Last night we had dinner at a friends’ place and the evening was focused around wine. Bart, a Belgium expat working for Toyota, had selected all kinds of different wines ranging from cava, merlot, syrah and a nice desert wine. We went deep into the night consuming most of the bottles, a great evening!
Today we will visit the Mostra de Vinos in the Turia riverbed. It’s a similar wine fair as they are held all through the province, like the one we visited in Requena and the one in Utiel.
It is actually the 21st edition of this yearly event that traditionally takes place the weekend before Easter and
one of the most eagerly anticipated gastronomic events among lovers of local produce.
Of course we go there mostly for pleasure, but it is also a great opportunity to meet different wine makers for my next project Vino Valencia: together with Ivan, whom I mentioned in my previous post, we will start organising regular wine / networking events in Valencia, similar to what kept me busy in Beijing for 6.5 years, the YPHH.
Tomorrow Ivan and I will visit the tourism fair Turismo Comunidad Valenciana (TCV) in the Feria Valencia, the international trade- and conference center. We do this to see whether we can make interesting contacts there for both Vino Valencia and Valencia Day Trips.
All in all a busy weekend, the weather is great so we’re going to enjoy it!
