Just downloaded WordPress for Android app from the Android market.
This makes the wpToGo app redundant and “development will be discontinued in favor of the official WordPress app”.
The app is suitable for self hosted sites as well as WordPress.com sites.
If you’re on android and WordPress then you can scan this code to download the app yourself.
More info on the official WordPress for Android page.
Thanks for the heads up! I tried it and it looks exactly the same as wptogo, which is nice because it is a good program.
Hi Joop, yeah the code is largely based on wptogo I read on http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/wordpress_launches_official_android_app.php
Obviously the post above is written via WordPress for Android, very user friendly experience!

Hi Piet,
I downloaded the app some weeks ago, but it’s not working for me. I can read any post with comments I posted via my iBook, but when I write a new post on my HTC and say ‘publish’, the post won’t be published but stays in the “Local Drafts” file with no option to post it. Any idea what I do wrong? I also can’t find it in the Drafts-file on my iBook. Strange….
Hope you’re a more experianced user and know what setting needs to be changed.
Thanks!
Sonja
Hi Sonja, thanks for your comment.
Not really sure why it shouldn’t work on your HTC. You have to tick the box “Publish” and when you then save your Post, it is first saved to Local Drafts.
But once you refresh (bottom-right-corner of your HTC screen) you should be able to get them published, right? Then you should be able to
clickLONGPRESS on that Post in Local Drafts and from the drop down menu you can click “Upload Draft to Blog”.You can watch the video on http://android.wordpress.org/ for more instructions.
Thanks for your explanation! Together with the link, I now fully understand how it works. Once you know, it’s really simple
